First Things First
Graphic design is important because it is part of our everyday lives. Everything has some sort of graphic design put into it. No matter if its an advertisement on TV, a magazine cover, or a companies logo, they were all made using graphic design. If you work hard on your design, people will notice it. That is what graphic design is about. Its for making things look creative and unique so that they stand out over other designs.
I'm glad this graphic design class was made, and especially glad that I took it. Ive learned so many things including what graphic design is and what its used for. Its more important than I realized. Honestly, I had never used photo shop in my life, and now I can say that I know how to use it. Ive learned about logos, magazine covers and ads, identity standards, and photo manipulation. This class is very interesting and i would take it again.

World on Shoulders
I thought it would be cool to take the saying "I've got the world on my shoulders" literally and actually put it on a mans shoulders. It was harder than I thought it would be but I like how it turned out.

This app is like texting but using pictures and can only been seen for up to 10 seconds, after its over you never see it again. Lastly, is the icon for Skype. You can use Skype for video chatting people all over the world.

Senior Announcement
I chose to do a senior announcement because I felt like I could be more creative with it. When I looked them up on Google, a lot of girls used designs and patterns like the one I used on the bottom half. I used black, white, and pink, because they are my favorite colors and thought they would make the announcement stand out. I added all the details like when, where, what time, and the number to RSVP to, so it made it look real.

T-Shirt Contest
Since we can only use two main colors, I decided not to use one of them for the color of my t-shirt. I didn't want the colors to blend too much so I made it black. I thought that since the shirt was supposed to be about school spirit, I would put "Bulldog PRIDE." This is because I believe that part of having spirit is also having pride in your school. I realized that there are many schools that have the colors blue and yellow, or the bulldog is their mascot, so I put North Platte High School on the sleeves to distinguish what school it is from.
Information Graphic
My information was about the smartphone satisfaction ratings. The top seven phones were iPhone, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG, Nokia, and RIM. I needed a way to show the percentages so I thought it would be creative to make them loading apps on an iPhone.
Icons
First I made four apps for an iPhone. The first was called Confidence Booster, which will send you pop ups that boost your confidence throughout the day. Jokes Daily is an app where you get a new joke each day. Movie Download is for downloading movies fast so you can watch them wherever you go. Lastly, Puzzle Maker lets you use your own choice of picture and turn it into a puzzle, then you can solve it. Then I put them into an iPhone to make them look real.

Information Graphic Timeline
When we started this assignment we had to take notes of a slide show we saw about the time logos were made and what they were made for. I couldn't fit all mine on this but I got the most important ones on. My logos started in 1897 and ended in 1992. The arrows lead you to the next logo on the timeline. I had the arrows go by length so you would know which logo was next.

Ice Cream Parlor
First I had to make a menu for an ice cream parlor so that people would see it as soon as they walked in. I used the pictures of the ice cream to make the menu pop out more. Since the wall is turned, I had to make the text turned as well. Finally I put the picture into a real ice cream parlor so it looked real.

Before and After
After I chose the picture I wanted to use, we used Adobe Photo shop to edit it. I made the NPHS shadowed and in 3D. The shadow was black with a pink outline. Then one of the black lines from another layer wouldn't go away so I put underlines under the NPHS so it wouldn't show.

Environmental Graphic Design
For this project we had to have a partner and walk around the school finding pictures that represent environmental graphic design. We took pictures of the lights because they are different than the other lights by hanging down. Everything else was either an odd shape or was a plane surface.

Magazine Advertisement
We had to chose an advertisement out of a magazine and draw it out in our sketch books just like what we had to do for the cover page. I chose an ad that had a very large title and a smaller title underneath. Then it had a couple paragraphs about the object being advertised. At the bottom they had they're website so I did that as well.

Girls Longboarding Magazine Cover
First we had to
choose three magazine covers. Once we had them, we drew mini ones in our sketch
books. Every part of the cover we had to measure, that includes the pictures,
text boxes, and even the margins. After that was done, we chose our favorite cover
and had to make our own using the measurements and text in the same areas. I
chose the cover with a silver Lamborghini as the whole background and only
three text boxes. Since one of the sports I do is longboarding, I decided to
make my cover about girls longboarding. I used the same amount of text boxes
and used one big picture as the background just like the magazine that I chose.

Identity Standards of MNM
Identity Standards of Managing your
Nails and Manicures
Intro
Since
2012, MNM has been built around the logo and its standards. These include the
fonts, colors, and the different types of logos that will be seen. These are
all made to make sure the logo cannot be copied and so that people can know the
real product from a fake. The word mark is by far the company’s
best-recognized symbol, and it remains the preferred visual identifier for
Managing your Nails and Manicures.
Typography
Our typography is very important to us. We want
our customers to be able to notice our text as soon as they see it. We don’t
want our customers to be confused or think that we are a different company. Our
typography is very unique and we only have one so that it will not be copied.
Color
We have two colors, Manicure Pink, and Polished
Black. Those two colors will be associated with all of our products. In our
letter, we use Manicure Pink and white checkers in the text. We make sure that
our colors stand out so that we will be noticed. You will know it is our logo
by how the colors are used.
Logo
Our
logo is mostly seen with the Manicure Pink background and the MNM in Polished
Black, along with the outline and two squares in each corner. Our logo is
important to us because it is our most recognized symbol. We want our customers
to know what our logo is so that they can tell the real from a fake.
Bad Use of Logo
If
you see our logo in any colors other than Manicure Pink or Polished Black, it
isn’t our logo. If the pink is a lighter color, or the black is faded into a
gray, that will not pass as our logo either. The background and edging cannot
be another color. If it is distorted it is a fake copy of our logo as well.
Good Use of Logo
If
the logo is a square, in Manicure Pink and Polished Black, it is a real logo.
What it needs is a Polished Black out line with two squares in each corner. The
background is always Manicure Pink inside, and outside of the letters. None of
the squares are touching the MNM but the letters MNM are all touching.
Business
Card, Letter, and Envelope
Our
business card has a Polished Black background with Manicure Pink polish. The
heading in “Managing your Nails and Manicures.” It states that “At MNM you can
buy anything that involves keeping your nails looking good and healthy. Or,
make an appointment for us to do your nails for you.” It gives our phone
number, email, and address. Our logo is in the bottom right corner.
MNM’s letter is different from our other
products because of the text. The Polished Black background and Manicure Pink outline
goes with the rest of our products but the text is in Manicure Pink and white
checkers. If we send you a letter, the text will also be in Manicure Pink.
Our
envelope is very unique. It has our faded logo in the background so that you
can prove that it is real. We will spell our “Managing your Nails and
Manicures” in the top right corner along with our address, town, and zip code.
Web
The
webpage has a Polished Black background and Manicure Pink text like our other
products. You can order nail polish, nail files, hair products, and
accessories, to be sent right to your house. We also put up pictures of our
work so that you know what you want us to do when you come into our store. We
will also post examples of nail designs you can do at your own house. Our
website is www.managingnailsmanicures.com.
Conclusion
We
want our customers to have the best products possible and to be happy with the
way their nails look and feel. Contact us if you have any questions or would
like to set up an appointment at our salon.

Business Card, Letter, and Envelope
After we made the logo, we had to come up with a business that used the initials of our name so that it matched the logo. I came up with Managing your Nails and Manicures. Coming up with a name for my business what harder than i thought it would be. But, coming up with the rest of the information was easy. After that, all we had to do was make a business letter and envelope. I made them to match my business card and logo.
My Logo: MNM
For our logo, we started drawing designs on a paper and had our class chose which was their favorite. I had two designs that tied so i chose my own favorite. It was hard drawing it on the computer but I started using thicker lines which made it easier. I used black and pink since they are my favorite colors.
What is graphic design?
Graphic design is the art of visual communication. Some examples are, websites, billboards, posters, and magizines. You can use pictures, ideas, and words to show information to your audience. Graphic design is everywhere around you. You see it when you're reading a book, driving down the street, or working on the computer.
